Le Touquet-Paris-Plage

Jules Grün, railway poster for the Chemin de fer du Nord, 1920s · lithographic poster

What it is

Jules Grün’s poster for the Nord railway, from the 1920s, looking down through the pines to the beach at Le Touquet.

Why it matters

Le Touquet was built as a resort for Paris and London, and its golf was part of the sales pitch from the start.

What to notice

The word GOLF is on a small signboard nailed to a tree, right where the path leads off.

The course is always just past the trees.
