Golf — Houlgate, Cabourg
René Vincent, lithographic poster, 1930 · lithographic poster
What it is
René Vincent’s resort poster for the golf links at Houlgate and Cabourg on the Normandy coast.
Why it matters
The single most impressive object in the house: a station-hall poster at station-hall resolution, and dated 1930 — the exact last year our copyright gate admits.
What to notice
Vincent came from automobile advertising, and it shows: the golfer is drawn like a machine part, all confident curve and no fuss.
The end of an era is usually its best-looking year.
