Golfers at the Miami Biltmore, 1927

unattributed press photograph, 1927 · photograph

What it is

A 1927 photograph of golfers on the course beside the Miami Biltmore, the Florida land boom at its peak.

Why it matters

The largest photographic scan in the house, and the clearest picture of what golf became once American resorts got hold of it.

What to notice

The hotel tower dominates the frame. The course is an amenity of the building, not the other way round.

Somewhere in the 1920s the clubhouse got taller than the game.
