Gallot

Mich, caricature, 1909 · lithographed caricature

What it is

An ink caricature by the French cartoonist Mich, 1909, titled Gallot in pencil at the top of the sheet.

Why it matters

Mich drew the sporting men of Paris for its papers, and a few strokes were enough for readers to know the face.

What to notice

The signature sits in the lower left, drawn with the same brush as the jaw.

A good caricature only needs the outline.
